Salunda Latch Hawk™ fingerboard latch monitoring deliveries Fall 2015

Latch Hawk™ is a safety barrier designed to prevent accidents during pipe handling, minimize NPT, reduce trip-time and safely accelerate drilling operations. A network of Latch Hawk™ sensors can be retro-fitted to fingerboards to directly monitor latch position. Salunda has engineered monitoring sensors for the toughest environments including rock drills, rally cars and even jet engines. Our latest product was no different since it relies on the same technology and is intended for long-term, safety critical operation around the derrick. Our team developed the Latch Hawk in close collaboration with National Oilwell Varco, and the product achieved ATEX, IECEx and DNV certification in 2015. Videos and animation about the product’s functionality and its development can be found here.
Latch Hawk production commenced at our UK manufacturing site during the summer of 2015. Our company achieved an important milestone when the first Latch Hawk batches began shipping during Fall 2015. The pictures here show Latch Hawk units in their custom packaging and being assembled onto pallets in preparation for delivery. These units will be installed on drillships, semi-submersibles and jack-ups offshore and in ship yards around the world.
The entire supply chain has worked hard to ramp-up production so it was with great satisfaction that our team watched the first consignments being loaded up and dispatched. We are working closely with the industry to improve pipe handling during drilling, and expedite installation of this unique solution.
