Locate, Alert, and Protect

Hazardous working environments must be constantly monitored to ensure the safety of individuals. Crew Hawk offers a comprehensive hardware and software solution that in real-time tracks individuals and equipment. Exclusion zones are configured around hazardous areas and energised machinery. If an individual breaches these zones an alarm is triggered both to their wearable Personal Locator and to the control station.

Sensors enable the real-time location tracking of people, equipment and assets to within a 30 cm accuracy without the need of a direct line of sight.


If an individual enters an exclusion or red zone an alarm is immediately triggered to both the individual’s Personal Locator and to the area authority. Uniquely, Crew Hawk delivers a personal alarm directly to workers in the line of fire.


Data from the sensors is streamed to Crew Hawk Analytics where it is used to drive safety and operational efficiency.

Crew Hawk enables users to configure perimeters or geo-fences in the working environment.

A static geo-fence or red zone can be configured around areas that pose the greatest risk to an individual. As soon as this area is breached, the individual’s Personal Locator will immediately trigger an alarm. The area authority will also receive an alert of exactly which role is causing the breach.

A dynamic geo-fence can be configured around energised equipment or machinery. This zone moves as the equipment moves and individuals are alerted if they enter these zones.

Optionally, Crew Hawk can be integrated with drilling controls to pause or stop moving equipment protecting workers in the line of fire.

IIoT network

Wireless gateways located around the perimeter of a work area triangulate the position of each individual’s Personal Locator. This provides an accurate, real-time view of the work area and the individuals moving within it.

Digital twin

A digital twin – the real-time digital representation of the work area – can be viewed directly by the area authority to increase the situational awareness and safety of the crew.

E-stop functionality

Crew Hawk identifies when equipment is energised and immediately activates a dynamic red zone around it. If an individual breaches this zone, the equipment automatically pauses to prevent collision.

NOV Control System Integration

Crew Hawk integrates with NOV’s control and alarm system, ensuring the operator is informed of breaches and enhancing the operator’s awareness of activities in the work area. The system integrates with ACS (Cyberbase) and ZMS (Amphion) to stop and prevent machines from moving if personnel are inside red zone areas. Crew Hawk is NOV’s prefered red zone management system.

Track performance

Performance dashboards provide an overview of operational and safety statistics. Customisable timeframes also reveal individual locations and zone violations within a particular period.

Playback feature

To further investigate zone violations or incidents that occur in a work area, the playback feature allows users to view people’s movement leading up to and after a zone breach or incident.

Work area heatmaps

Heatmaps of the work area reveal where individuals were during an operation. This information can then we used to further optimise operating procedures, people placement and area layout.
