The MudChecker™ is the first electronic device to replace retort and titration, providing repeatable results in minutes.
Drilling mud is critical to drilling and completion of oil and gas wells. Fluids remove cuttings as the drill bit moves through the formation, control well bore stability and provide information about geology. Retort and chemical titration has been used since the dawn of drilling to measure the composition of drilling fluids as part of a ‘mud check’. These methods can take over an hour, and are inaccurate and hazardous.
The hand-held MudChecker™ measures and calculates the oil, water, solid and salt content of drilling fluids. Results are logged on a PC, and may be exported as Excel files for offline analysis. This USB device runs rechargeable batteries.
· Results are more repeatable than retort, and since it so quick it can be used to conduct more frequent mud checks – accelerating drilling to target depth (TD) and avoiding non-productive time such as lost bits due to swings in oil/water ratio (OWR).
· Increases the productivity of drilling engineers by saving hours daily. Instead of waiting one hour to complete a mud check using a retort and titration, you can get results within minutes using MudChecker™.
· Relies on Salunda patented technology and proprietary software.
Benefits Reduce time to target – Maintain optimal rate of penetration (ROP)
Cost Reduction – Less materials, mud engineer time and other services
Safety – Improve reaction time, accuracy in well control and maintaining well integrity
Non-productive time (NPT) – Reduction in lost time with better awareness
