Salunda recently spoke with Nick Smith, a General Project Manager at American Construction Logistics Services (ACLS) in Kabul about the firm’s recent purchase of DieselProve™. ACLS provide construction and logistics services to a number of customers. They have worked as a general contractor for top flight construction owners for many years, and throughout this period they have built a solid reputation for their ability to consistently deliver quality work, on schedule and within budget. It was this dedication to quality, economy and performance and ability to plan, anticipate, adapt and improve which ultimately led them to their recent purchase of a DieselProve™ Fuel Analysis unit.
Salunda were very interested in the timeline of Nick’s DieselProve™ purchase, everything from how he had heard of us to what he used the unit for on a day-to-day basis. So we organised a call from London to Kabul to hear his story. Nick said that ACLS first encountered Salunda’s DieselProve™ in their dealings with a leading client: a major western embassy in Afghanistan. ACLS provides this customer with fuel on a daily basis, and the embassy had been using a DieselProve™ unit of their own to ensure the fuel quality was up to scratch. Since fuel quality can vary greatly, especially in this region, Nick concluded that it would be prudent to also test the quality of the fuel they were receiving in a regular, systematic and convenient way prior to distribution. Nick explains, “ACLS must be fully aware of what is in the fuel they are providing since some fuel blends can do permanent harm to engines and equipment”. Indeed, up to 80% of engine problems stem from poor quality or contaminated fuel.
Having considered several competitive products, ACLS felt that DieselProve™ was the comparatively superior product available. DieselProve is a tough, hand held screening tool which can measure and spot impurities in fuel – the ideal product for this scenario. One advantage of its functionality results could be recorded and directly compared to those taken by embassy.
Nick notes that purchasing through Salunda’s website to accepting the delivery was straightforward. This product has proven its worth throughout the region’s harsh weather. The unit has endured journeys by dirt track and throughout Turkmenistan with temperatures of -20 degrees Celsius and yet still continued to analyse accurately and precisely if the correct procedures were observed. Nick commented specifically on the unit’s ability to hold its charge when active out in the field, and it’s simple user interface which has proved especially helpful given the number of users they have using it on a rotational basis. In summary, Nick and ACLS are happy with their purchase of DieselProve™. Several other companies in the region are interested in acquiring the product.
